A Bentley for the terrain? What sounds rather fabulous given the luxurious sedans and coupes from the factory in Crewe , UK, will become reality in January 2016. Then the delivery of the Bentley Bentayga begins in Europe. Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer fully announced the model in the run-up to the IAA 2015 as “the fastest, most expensive, most exclusive and luxurious vehicle of its kind”. Quite a lot of superlatives you might mean – typically Bentley. After all, the announcement was so successful that already now the 25 copies of the “First Edition”, which are intended for Germany by 500 worldwide, are sold out.

At the IAA in Frankfurt, Bentley will introduce the Bentayga, the first SUV model in brand history. And the British are not half-heartedly dedicated to the new vehicle segment: with a torque of 900 Nm and a top speed of 301 km / h, the Bentley Bentayga sets new standards. The outstanding workmanship and the usual British luxury convince the buyers even before the market launch.

A classic Bentley

Visually, the Bentayga is a classic Bentley. At the front of the five-door is the classic four-eye face, which frames a mighty diamond grill. The roofline of the 5.14-meter-long model, available with four to seven seats, drops sharply to the rear. At the rear radiates a striking taillight signature in the form of a “winged B”. The powerful 22-inch wheels give the Bentayga a dominant appearance. In the interior, the inmates expect a lot of leather, highly polished metal applications and handcrafted wood. The vehicle systems can be operated either via a rotary pushbutton or via the large touch screen . The passengers in the fund also have a removable oneEntertainment tablet available. The 10.2-inch Android device can be surfed or played on the Internet via LTE, WLAN and Bluetooth. The standard panoramic glass roof can be completely darkened by an electric roller blind.

12-cylinder engine with 608 hp

The Bentley Bentayga is powered by a powerful 6.0-liter V12 twin-turbo diesel . The 12-cylinder engine delivers 608 hp and 900 Nm and brings the Bentayga in just 4.1 seconds from zero to 100 km / h. And that defies a curb weight of 2.4 tons . The standard consumption is given as 12.8 liters. The top speed is only reached at 301 km / h, making the new Bentley the fastest SUV in the world . At the end of 2016, the engine range will be supplemented by a four-liter V8 turbo gasoline engine with 500 hp and a V8 turbo diesel with 400 hp. In addition, a V6 plug-in hybrid with 400 hp is planned.

Eight different driving modes allow individual adjustment of the road and the terrain. Above all, the focus is on the sensitive off-road options, which according to the manufacturer offer extensive settings for a variety of terrain types. Via a display , the driver can retrieve information such as steering angle, axle articulation, inclination and roll angle and altitude.

Modern driver assistance systems

As befitted, the Bentley Bentayga offers a comprehensive range of driver assistance systems and infotainment functions. An adaptive cruise control system with Stop & Go function, which works with navigation data, sensors and cameras, provides improved comfort and fuel consumption. Other assistance systems such as traffic sign recognition, head-up display, parking and parking aid or an electronic night vision device with infrared technology ensure safety and increased everyday practicality.

The price of the Bentley Bentayga is still speculated. According to experts, however, the luxury SUV should be positioned above the Range Rover . If one compares the Bentayga with the luxurious 550 PS variant, one would come to a price beyond the 250,000 euros.
